Paleoart of Australohalkieria on some archaeocyathan sponges. These sponges have always reminded me of some of the weirder Dr.Seuss illustrations, so I decided to embrace that. Archaeocyathans are an extinct group of what may be sponges, and animals such as halkeriids likely relied on them for food. They represent some of the first reef-building organisms, and likely provided valuable habitat for a number of invertebrates.
