Paleoart of Cartorhynchus and Majiashanosaurus, two early marine reptiles and some of the first to return to the sea after the devastating Permian extinction. With some oceanic resources remaining and nothing to exploit them, nature filled that void surprisingly quickly - enter the eosauropterygians and ichthyosauriformes, which appeared in an evolutionary instant, albeit small and still semi-terrestrial. In time, their relatives would become two of the ocean's greatest lineages of marine reptile.
