Paleoart of the sabertoothed "cookie-cutter cat" Xenosmilus being ragebaited by some Florida scrub jays. Xenosmilus was an early Pleistocene carnivore that had a unique tooth arrangement that would have allowed it to take nasty chunks out of large prey. But being a cat, I'm sure it was cute. Florida scrub jays have existed in Florida for two million years; longer than many Pleistocene species that are already extinct! It just goes to show that modern and Pleistocene animals are contemporaneous. The world's the same, there's just less in it.
